  As someone who will be graduating in 1.5 years, I've thought about this a lot too. One of the most important things to me is living in a free state which respects privacy, property, my rights, etc. But one thing I know for sure is that I want to live in a state with no state income tax! This will save you a lot of money. The states with no state income tax are: Washington, Alaska, Nevada, Wyoming, South Dakota, Texas and Florida. Additionally, New Hampshire and Tennessee limit their state income taxes to dividends and interest income only. You also should consider what the sales tax is in the state. And the property taxes if you plan to buy a home in whatever state in the next few years. You didn't state what your degree will be in. If I knew that, I could really help out a lot more.
