All the compost toilets I see usually are where you have to empty it every so often and take the waste out to the compst bin and cover it. But why cant you have a huge pipe under the ...show more

Answer:
that is what a liquid toilet is all about the pipe leads the liquid compost away with solids it would take complicated contraption to empty and move the compost if you wanted a mechanical solution. I have seen a hotel with saw dust toilets on all the 5 floors totally ridiculous ,nobody knew what to do all you have to do is make the ENDING organic and self decomposing with a feed into the eco system ,LIKE CISTERNS AND A FRENCH DRAIN AT THE END. I prefer cisterns anyway. Normal water closets in the house and a main drain away from the house to two cement or brick compartments(In the ground) with spaced bricks on the side walls so that some liquid is already absorbed by the surrounding ground with a low hole in the solid division . This keeps the floating solids in the first compartment for decomposition, the somewhat cleaner black water moves from the second compartment via a high overflow into a french drain (a covered trench, filled with rocks covered with plastic, to prevent soil falling in,).that is angled ,straight into the orchard, there you plant fruit trees on top and your toilet system is automatically absorbed by your garden. compost and dry toilets http://byderule.multiply.com/photos/album/38/Compost_or_dry_toilets Permaculture links http://byderule.multiply.com/links/item/27/ANCIENT_AND_MODERN_PERMACULTURE The out house on a deep hole (peat toilet)means moving the outhouse to get to the compost.

That would work. Personally I like methane digesters. Human waste has human diseases in it, which we should stay away from. Composting still creates, and wastes, methane (a greenhouse gas). The current flushing toilets and sewage plants could all be converted to methane producing with no apparent changes to the user. The methane can be used to run electric generators into the power grid. Even the clear water coming out of them can be used for irrigation, such as city parks and lawns.

We call that an out house. Dig a deep hole, pull a little house with a seat and hole over the hole in the ground and "fill it up". Dropping a handfull of sawdust in each time keeps the oder down. When the hole is full, dig another hole further along and haul the house over that hole. Put some dirt over the first hole and plant a tree in it to mark the spot. The tree will grow very well.

yes. but the problem with composting our waste is that the meat we consume makes our feces uncompostable. it is better to become a vegetarian before thinking of making a sawdust toilet.
