How to do banking in Brazil?

Banking question in brazil?

  • im moving to sao paulo next month... i am currently with wells fargo in the states, and im wondering what to do about banking... is there a chase or whatever in brazil?

  • Answer:

wrong section.....dude. If you bank with Wells Fargo - you just close the account if you think you do not want use it. Go to Sao Paulo - visit a bank and open a new account. There should be CitiBank (as it is available world wide ). Check the bank websites or google it. Internet has everything you want including cash and bank.

well first of all you're going to have a blast down there!!! ok lest see.. IF you are still getting paid in the US you'll be just fine.. you can use your debit card anywhere there just liek here , and go online to check balances etc (prob is that you won't be able to deposit any money there) Another option is Citi Bank, they actually have branches down there, in fact they have branches in many places around the world. You would need to open an account there and when you get to Brazil just go to the branch there and withdrawn money deposit, note that the fees are higher. Bank of America a few years back had a partnership with Itau bank, not sure if they still do, I doubt it.. but I could be wrong. IWelsl Fargo is DEFINITELY not there, sorry to tell you this. You could always open an account there in Brasil, which is not that hard, as long as you have all your documents. O before i forget, if you are going to spend a few months or maybe a few years and don't want to open an account , you family can always send you money to you through wester union (i don't recoomend) or other money transfer companies.. let me knwo if you need more info so i can help you
