  • Answer:

Here are a few things you could look at for courses. Biology Zoology Oceanography and marine biology Environmental policy International law pertaining to the natural world Non-profit management Many colleges now offer interdisciplinary studies and you should also look at opportunities with NOAA for student research trips. An internship for a summer with a marine park would be good too. I think your forward planning is great.

I think a good major would be something like Biology/Ecology (easy to double major in), or Ecology and/or Environmental Law. If you want to work with animals and conservation, I large part of that is habitat/environmental conservation (animals need a place to live, afterall). Learning how animals interact with their environment is very important. Long-term... I don't know a whole lot about animal activists, etc (except for PETA??), but working at a wildlife refuge or preserve would be an option. Refuges and preserves protect and enhance the environment for the benefit of animals and their habitat. Good luck!
