Here's the answer I just shared for the Question: "How do I sing from the diaphragm?" NO ONE EVER TELLS YOU HOW, just "What" to do. Ho ho. Hope it's helpful: this is what you must do or you'll rip your vocal cords. As a singer, I never had to "worry" about it. I just never thought about it. The sad truth is that if you DON'T sing from your diaphragm, you'll rip your vocal cords. Same goes for "projecting" energy to your audience as a speaker. Let me tell you a story: I was teaching DuPont Company executives public speaking. Our first exercise was to have each class member introduce themselves...in sixty seconds...no more. Immediate feedback almost killed "Big Tony." At 240 lbs., how come PEOPLE IN THE FRONT ROW couldn't hear him? I'd never HAD this task, before. It wasn't in our curriculum. But, as a singer, I thought I had the answer . I took him aside and asked, "Tony, have you a woods or huge field near your home where you may go....SCREAM YOUR HEAD OFF and KNOW FOR CERTAIN...that NO ONE WILL HEAR?" "Sure." OK. Don't worry, Thursday's not my day for boys. And I put my hand DIRECTLY UNDER his rib cage, sort of straddling his RIBS and his DIAPHRAGM. "This is no instant cure," I told him. "You'll have to WORK AT IT." God be my judge, Tony's VERY NEXT talk to the group (who ALL knew him at work) was so expressive, emphatic, audible, clear, enthusiastic, that it almost blew everyone's hair back on their heads! "Oh, my gosh," everyone exclaimed at once. "HOW'd you DO THAT, Tony?" And Tony said, referring to me, "...I went into the men's room toward the end of our break, when no one was there and practiced what he suggested: put both open hands right under my rib cage. Relax, then tighten...really tight as a drum...my diaphragm. "Say something at normal volume. KEEP MY DIAPHRAGM TIGHT...REALLY TIGHT. Increase my volume. Increase, again. "You might just "call hogs," scream, "sooooooooo eeEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!" like in Arkansas! But BE SURE TO KEEP YOUR DIAPHRAGM TIGHT AS A DRUM. Now,with your hands still on your diaphragm, call AS LOUD AS YOU CAN. You'll be amazed at the difference. Absolutely NO STRAIN on the vocal cords. Hey, the body's God's instrument. He equipped us to do what's necessary.

Like the people before me said, make sure you're singing with your diaphragm. Also, try and relax your throat because that might be holding your sound back. Remember to take deep breaths and evenly exhale. The more relaxed you are and the better breath control you have, the more your core sound will come out. Good lucl:)
