You're probably singing from your throat without supporting from your diaphragm. Next time you sing, stand in front of a mirror. Make sure you're standing up nice and straight. Put one hand on your belly just under your ribcage, and the other on your back in the same place (like you're making a sandwich with your body and hands). Now, take a deep breath and try to expand your ribcage and belly. When you sing, contract your abdominal muscles - you should feel your belly "cinch" and the bottom of your ribcage sort of lift. This indicates that you're supporting your sound with your abdominal muscles and diaphragm. By supporting your sound this way, you achieve better breath control and your voice will begin to sound much fuller. Also, if you do this often enough, you'll start to trim your tummy muscles, a nice bonus. Also, you should feel the resonance of the sound in your sinuses. My choral director always told us to pretend that the sound was being pulled out of the spot above our noses like a string. This also will give you a fuller sound. If you're able, I'd also suggest taking some private voice lessons. Even a dozen lessons can help improve your technique and strengthen your voice. I don't know how old you are, if you're in college or high school. If you're still in high school, go talk to the choral director about taking some lessons after school, before school, or during a free period. Another thing that's important to do is to warm up your voice properly. Just like you shouldn't run a mile without warming up and stretching, singing also incorporates your whole body. Ever notice that opera singers sweat a lot? It's not all about the stage lights, it takes strength and effort to sing like that for three hours. Again, talk to your choral director about proper, healthy warm ups.

Well depending on how old you are, you might still have a chink. Girls commonly have breathy sounds until they're into their 20s. It isn't abnormal, and it's completely healthy. Work on your breath. If you can get your air going faster and stronger, your sound will follow. Keep your body relaxed. Low breaths, relaxed stomach, and use your air properly. Try putting a straw in a bottle of water and blow into it. The longer you can let your air stream go, the more power you will have. Start off with only breath exercises though... you don't need to tire your voice.

I had the same problem I use to sing very quiet and now I don't even need a microphone. So first off you have to learn how to sing properly from your diaphragm by singing from your diaphragm only and not moving your shoulders. It sound easy but it's not. Start off by putting your body against a wall and breathing without moving. Once you can breath right you have to build your diaphragm. Do this by placing a phone book on your stomach and breathing in as much as you can and breathing out until no more air comes out. You can tell you're breathing right by seeing the books come almost straight up. Do this about 2 or 3 times a week. Once your diaphragm is built up enough breath in and sing a note and push on your diaphragm so you can get use to using it to give your voice power and that should work. Oh and don’t forget to open your mouth wide, stand up straight and keep you head straight. Good luck!!

Remember your diaphram is your muscle that helps you project sound. The more you stand up straight, take in more air than you normally would singing like you have, and use that muscle plus the air to force the sound out. Do not push hard but at a regulated pace. To help you remember put your hands over your stomach (just below the rib cage) and try to project the sound. To practice sound projection I used to put earphone over my ears to drown out the outside noise but I could hear myself more clearly. Recording your voice at different levels helps to find your "area" or pitch as well. It takes practice and after a while you will find the right louder projection for your voice. The only time you need to force a louder sound is usually in opera, other wise, when you are singing regular songs a level louder than you do singing quietly or at normal sound, would be fine. Practice singing the alphabet. I know it sounds funny, but, because of its falcetos and alto pieces in it can help you determine where you can improve and where no improvement is needed. Have fun, always.
