Try singing with the BACK of your throat; not your lips! When practicing, practice in an empty room with nobody else in it if you can. Learn an instrument (other than your voice, of course!) if you haven't already. Sing loud and clearly. Listen to artists that you want your voice to sound like and chances are that you'll sound more like them. Most importantly; be relaxed!
