That's so stupid. No, we don't do that. Tell your teacher to get a brain, or stop telling you guys false info. We fast, like fast, fast. We don't eat for most of the day. Kayley <3

LOL! Is this a joke? If it's not, your teacher is very ignorant of Jewish people. We fast on Yom Kippur - we don't eat.

Indigo

No. Look up the VERB to fast in a dictionary.

Dart

No, it means we do not eat for 25 hours and we pray together as a community. Some communities pray the entire 25 hours together, then end the fast with a festive meal.

Melkha

I think your history teacher was trying to crack a lame joke. In Yom Kippur, we don't eat or drink for 25 hours. To make it harder, we can't use electronics, not even to turn on the light, we can't use writing/drawing/artsy tools, we can't buy anything, and we pray basically all day. But here's one thing: You're allowed to swim in your own, private pool. That's it.
