Is there a way in Gmail to sort emails by name or date?

You can go into settings and turn off conversation mode at get e-mails in date order just like Outlook. To sort in any other order you need a client program/app.

Gmail does not allow you to sort - and after several years of watching people rant, rave, and foam at the mouth about this on the Gmail forums and other places with no response from Google, I'm convinced they never will.You see, Gmail was designed from it's inception to replace sorting with something better. Search! Google adding the ability to sort the Gmail inbox would be *the* company the world uses to search tacitly admitting that sorting is better. Not friggin' likely!And in point of fact... it isn't.If you are reading this because you are frustrated with Gmail not sorting, chances are you have hundreds (or thousands!) of emails still in your inbox. This is probably because you don't truly understand archiving in Gmail, and are uncomfortable with it.
