How to find my own style of singing?

How did you find your own singing style?

  • Mine is ALMOST found. I just have to think more about it and how I sound best... but how did you do it?

    mine just kind of came to me... i don't think you really "find" a style. You sing whatever comes to your heart, and that's the only time people will ever stop and be awed... when you yourself feel it and it comes from your soul. Being unique won't happen until it's natrual... otherwise it'll just look put on, and audiences aren't stupid. Trying to find a style breaks the whole raw truth and vulnerability of singing, if you ask me. I say you go with whatever comes natrually, but challange yourself by switching things up... vibratto, riffing, and so on.

I sing from the heart. What style fits best for you? I could never be a country or a over-done pop singer, but I can sing classically, alternative, indie, and I've been trying my luck in jazz. Basically, give each genre a shot, and choose what you think is best. Good luck!
