Why do we celebrate thanksgiving?Why does canada?

Well eventuallay over time most popualer american holidays spread all over the world

Historically it was a celebration of survival for Pilgrims giving thanks to God for everything they had that helped them thrive in their new home. Currently it is just a time to give thanks. Many countries in the world have adopted American holidays and Canada has copied this one but it is a true American holiday. Abraham Lincoln is responsible for making it a national Holiday to reunite a divided country after the civil war ended.

Thanksgiving is the day when people give thanks for the things they have. People everywhere could have a Thanksgiving, and just have a time where they get together and be thankful. It doesn't have to be associated with any particular event like the 4 of July.

it is kinda religious. the pilgrims had it with the wampanoag indians after their first year of good harvest when they first discovered america. they shot a turkey so that is the tradition of the holiday. so they were being thankful for the good harvest hence the fact its called thanksgiving.
