Hmmm, I guess I took this the other way. I have never understood the popularity of Ja Rule. I blame him for every ill under the sun. High gas prices last summer? Totally Ja Rule's fault.

I think Tool's Aenema is perfect. Especially this part.... Fret for your figure and Fret for your latte and Fret for your hairpiece and Fret for your lawsuit and Fret for your prozac and Fret for your pilot and Fret for your contract and Fret for your car.

Well I'm not American but in my opinion this song (even though it was written 15 years ago) is about everything that's wrong with the world in general today. If White America Told The Truth For One Day It's Whole World Would Fall Apart - Manics Street Preachers

Oddly, my first choice is more than 20 years old, and it's from an Australian band. However, with Putin around, and Kim Jong Il, and Iraq, and the growing gap between the haves and the have nots, it's still quite relevant. ~Midnight Oil, "Read About It" (Now that Peter Garrett is a politico, it makes one wonder if he's part of the problem or part of the solution--I hope he's the latter.) My second choice has to do, specifically, with the erosion of civil liberties (thanks, Patriot Act), and the acceptance, by so many people, of disgusting things like water boarding, all in the name of "safety." The "safety" you buy with torture is an illusion. ~David Bowie, "This Is Not America" This last one is just a musing on things in general--all things. ~Marvin Gaye, "What's Going On" Funny, I just realized none of my choices are new, yet to me, they are all appropriate responses. Maybe that means that things never really change much. And finally, one song for what I'd like to see more of. I don't know if it's THE answer, but it sure couldn't hurt at this point. And no, I am not a hopeless naif. ~Todd Rundgren and Utopia, "Love is the Answer"
