How can I connect a MacBook Pro to an external monitor wirelessly?

AppleTV is probably the easiest, cheapest way. It's HDMI out, not DVI or VGA, but 1080i and 720p HDMI are pretty damn good over all. And for $99, it's a deal. But it only Mirrors. For extended: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-display/id368158927?mt=8 uses the iPad as 2nd display, but it's kind of slow. Beyond that, you are still best off looking at Wireless HDMI devices, as they are simply more popular and cheaper then other DVI variants. This will still require an HDMI cable out to a box that has a power supply, so it's bulky but technically wireless.
