Answer:
"Extremely educated" Well.........ppl might say they are but I wouldn't believe them. You need to speak to a scholar. You could also call the mosque in your area and write out questions and call from time to time (or even go in person) to ask. You also need to remember that there are different schools of thoughts in Islam so some things will always have a difference of opionion regarding them. You can also call 1-877-Why-Islam and they will find somebody to call you back. They can also find a pen pal through snail mail or email for you or they can find a local person to come talk to you or call you or whatever. It's set up for THIS very reason! edit: I also want to add that if you ask any group something you generally end up with a ton of differing answers too.

you don't expect EVERYONE to know everything about Islam now do you?? ^_^ we are humans like the rest!..so some of us are kids, teens, adults..etc...we both differ in opinions because some of us are soooo dedicated in religion and uses logic to see what's right from hadiths and some of us follow everything including the wrong things without using logic!....and some of us are Muslims but do not know deep things about Islam(it's not bad tho but it would be better if they did). ~have a nice day~ RoChEr

Me Shi'a Muslims trust traditions transmitted by Muhammad's descendants through Fatima Zahra. other then that Every hadith must be individually examined through the process of ilm-ul-hadith. Any hadith that conflicts with the Quran or logic is immediately thrown out. I think you must read this Q&A between a famous Scholar Chirri and an atheist Professor, it will answer all your questions inshallah, if you truly want to understand you will read it all, when you finish you will be refreshed with new knowledge God willing Mohamad Jawad Chirri is a native of Lebanon and a graduate of the distinguished religious institute of Najaf, in Iraq. He is a theologian and lecturer. The Islamic Community invited him to Detroit, Michigan, in 1949. Imam Chirri is the director and spiritual leader of the Islamic Center of America, 15571 Joy Road, Detroit, Michigan 48228. His work extends far enough to include West Africa and the Middle East. Two important Islamic schools of thought had been in disagreement and dispute for centuries. While on a lecture tour of West Africa and the Middle East, in 1959, Imam Chirri called upon the head of the Sunni school, Sheikh Al-Azhar in Cairo, to recognize the other school. In response to Imam Chirri's call, the majority leader issued a historical declaration which stated that the teachings of both schools are equally sound, and that Muslims have the right to choose either one. this is the link to the book . http://www.al-islam.org/inquiries/ This link takes you to the Q&A Imam Mohamad Jawad Chirri, the author, and Dr. Wilson H. Guertin who directed to him the questions which are recorded in this book

Here on YA... I know two ppl whom I can say they are very informed... Muhammad and Priglitus... they are both in my contacts... except I haven't seen any of them online recently... :) Neither of them would mind if you email them... :)

Quite honestly butterfly YA is NOT the place to learn about Islam. Really this is a weak attempt at your claim to want to know about Islam. If you really want to know about Islam you should find a mosque, ask for a person of great knowledge to speak with there and stick with that where someone can show you texts. Lately when I read your questions it surely doesn't seem like you really want to learn. You seem to want to convince yourself you want to learn but you MUST know that you have taken the worst route to educating yourself in Islam by coming on YA. Try good old fashioned education by picking up some books and finding a teacher :)

When the prophet Muhammad decided a matter, no Muslim man or woman has any right to decide in that matter according to his or her whims. Obeing prophet Muhammad (s) has been mentioned side by side with obeying Allah. Actually, obeying the prophet is same as obeying Allah. Following the Quran is obying Allah, and followoing sunnah is obying prophet Muhammad. And this is not polytheism or shirk because obeddience to the prophet is based on obedience to the Quran: Whomever obeys the Messenger has surly obeyed Allah (4:80) obeying prophet Muhammad is proof of loving Allah; and the reward of obeying the prophet is Allah's love and forgiveness. Disobeying the prophet pushes one into the group of unbelievers. The consequences of disobeying the prophet is described in the following verses: "Whomever disobeys Allah and his Messenger, and steps beyond the limits, Allah will cause him to enter the fire, in it shall he abide, and he shall have an abasing chastisement." (4:14) "Whomever obeys Allah and his messenger; Allah will admite him in the gardens beneath which rivers flow; and whomever turns away, Allah will chastise him with a painful chastisement." (48:7) "If only we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger!" (33:66) the last verse here leaves no room for the fancy of those who say that obeying Allah and obeying the prophet both refer to the Quran only. If it had been so, then there was no need for the Quran to mention obeying the peophet after obeying Allah, these two things cannot be seperated from each other. O you who believe! Do not step ahead of Allah and his Messenger. Surely Allah is Hearing, all knowing. (49:1) Obviously, Allah does not have a body;so this verse is talking about shari'ah and commandments of Allah and his beloved prophet, it says that do not decide anything by yourself before Allah and his Messenger. O you who believe! Do not raise your voices over the prophet's voice; and do not talk loudly to him as you talk to one another-lest your deeds become forfeited while you realize not (49:2) Those who lower their voices in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, they are the ones whose hearts Allah has tested for piety-for them is the forgiveness of Allah and great reward. (49:4) All the verse stated above prove that the Quran and the sunnah of the prophet go together, they are not opposed to each other. It is incorrect to assume that the order asking the Muslims to follow the prophet means following only the Quran, because that purpose has already been achieved by the command which orders the Muslims to obey Allah. So there is no other way of obeying the prophet except by following his authentic Sunnah. It is necessary to mention here that when we are defending the Sunnah of the prophet of Islam; it does not mean that every single narration found in the collection of Sunnah, both of the shias as well as the sunnis, are to be taken as authentic. Not at all. One has to examine every single narration and prove its authenticity and validity of its content before following it. Fortunately, the Muslims 'ulama from the early days of Islam have worked on this, and at present they have the apparatus and means to distinguish the authentic narration from the unathentic ones. A brief study of Usulu 'l-fiqh (The principles of Jurisprudence), 'Ilmu 'r-Rij'al (The science dealing with the narrators of hadith), and Dir'ayatu 'l-hadith (the science of hadith) will be enough to prove this point and will help you with the answers you are looking for God willing. Sister, its not so easy to quote anyone here because sometimes those who are extremely educated are not able to convince others or make them understand the subject easily. And I agree with you that there are many variations in the answers and the questioner gets confused easily. So, I would like to ask everyone to educate themselves first and then put in their words. Its not a game when Islam comes in. Its way sensitive ~!

Asalam Alaykum, Well, we all have our opinions (humans). And only Allah knows if what we say is right all we can do is "try" to relay his message the right way. I have studied Islam my entire life and went to a Islamic University mashAllah. If you ever have any questions you can ask me. Sometimes my answers get a thumb down bc they are not what people want to hear but I only tell what the Quran or hadiths say and have got to where I proof it for the people who do not seem to know to much about Islam. Allah alim.
