Nursing School: What is the best online RN to BSN program for Texans?

For Texans, and for almost any other state, the best online RN to BSN program will need to have the following criteria: Be Regionally Accredited. Don't let the word Regional throw you. The US Department of Education oversees regionally accredited institutions. You can find more information about it here: https://cihe.neasc.org/about-accreditation/regional-accrediting-commissions. It is essential for students for several reasons: Financial Aid: Federal, State, and Scholarship Financial Aid, Loans and Grants. The best, least, expensive loans are available to accredited institutions.  More grants and scholarships are available as well. Why? Because the standardization and level of  instruction is at a level that ensures students are getting the best education possible. Credits. Credits are more likely to be transferable between accredited institutions. Scenario. You go to an unaccredited school and pay money and do well. Then you decide to transfer to a different institution but this one is accredited. The accredited institution will most likely NOT take most of your credits. You will be in the unfortunate situation of having to re-take your classes and pay for them over again. Earning a Higher Degree. Let's say you get an Associate or Bachelor Degree from an unaccredited institution. And now you want to earn the next degree level up, but from an accredited institution. You will be in the unfortunate situation as the above scenario. Your degree may very will not be accepted by the accredited institution. Better Jobs, Easier Employment. It makes a difference to employers where you graduated from. You will have much better success and more opportunities if you graduate from an accredited institution. You will have the respect of your co-workers and be accepted more easily when they know you've been trained and graduated from a respectable institution. Respect. You will have a greater sense of self-respect when attending an accredited school. Your co-workers will accept and trust you more easily. Program Accreditation Just as important as Regional Accreditation, is the Nursing Program Accreditation. For nursing there are two kinds of accreditation that count: CCNE - http://www.aacn.nche.edu/ccne-accreditation ACEN - http://www.acenursing.org/ Make sure your nursing program is accredited by either the CCNE or the ACEN. Why? The reasons are very similar to the five listed above for Regional Accreditation.
