  Wow, Isaac, where'd you come from??? I've seen two fantastically well-informed and detailed answers from you in the past few minutes. Awesome. I would recommend that you listen to all of Isaac's recommendations; you may find a kind of jazz you like. I know all of this music and these players are guitarist's guitarists. However ALL of these tunes are probably beyond your skill level or that of your band if you have no jazz playing experience whatsoever. Maybe you can take a bluesy approach to soloing over a song like Killer Joe. It's very easy, it's definitely jazz, and you can solo your heart out using minor pentatonics and distortion. Best of both worlds, kinda. Hope this helps.
