How is passover celebrated?

What preparations do Jewish families have to go through before the Passover is celebrated?

  • i'm not Jewish and i have to answer some questions about the Passover for a school project

  • Answer:

Getting rid of all the leaven (Chametz) in everything we own (which usually winds up being a massive spring cleaning project). The reason is because we aren't allowed even one drop of Chametz...

we get rid of anything that had flour (except matzoh of course) or you can "sell it" (and keep it in your house) to a non Jewish person then "rebuy it" after passover (you just have to find a non Jew who will buy it then sell it back because technically they can come into your house and take it). we clean every inch of our house to make sure there is no food that has flour, and we burn it (the food of course unless you're selling it)

A) it is not "the passover"...just Passover. B) clean the house of all Chametz (list of things you can not eat, touch or have in the house can surely be found at Judaism 101). C) prepare a really cool meal. Make sure you have all the things necessary for the dinner/service. Everything is in any Haggadah.
