Well... I am judging this purely on voice and not "type of music they sing." For me, the worst male singers are rappers... I mean, they don't even SING, they talk rythmically! The worst female is Gwen Stephani. She sounds like a drunk 60 y/o singing karaoke! The best female singer to me is Christina Aguilera... I don't like the type of music she sings but her voice is gorgeous. And the best male singer is a not-so-well-known guy named Josh Groban!!! If you've never heard of him, you should listen to some of his songs. I don't like the music so much all the time, but his voice is the most wonderful voice I've ever heard in my life! It gives me the chills. edit: I also love the voice of Brandon Boyd from the band Incubus!

Best male--Sinatra, of course. No was is or was even as good. Best Female---too many to judge. My favorite was Peggy Lee. Worst All rap, hip hop singers.

If by worst singer, you mean annoying, then Whitney Houston and Celine Dion are clear winners. For the men, any of the whiny commercial rock cliche singers like Scott Stapp from Creed, or the paddle pop lion from Nickelback. (an in joke) Best singer male I think is a Swedish guy called Goran Edman, not well known but a great set of tonsils. Kurt Cobain had great pitch, tone and one of the best, pained, truly heartfelt screams of all time. Mike Patton can do brilliant things with his voice. Female: Beyonce, while I'm not a fan, has a good voice, Tori Amos also very talented.
