  • Answer:

Avoid commercial eye drops because they can end up making the problem worse, not better. In the past when I've had them, using an old fashioned eye cup with a mixture of boric acid (see recipe at the link included) and icing the eye worked well. The red streak cleared up in a couple of days using this regimen instead of the week or more it would take when I've just left them alone. Don't over ice, just go 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off, or you can risk a freeze burn on the sensitive skin around the eye. Really, this works very well. I had one of these appear only 48 hours before I was leaving on vacation. I wanted that thing gone, and by the time I got on the plane, the red streak was gone with only a slight yellowing in the area. By the next day, even the yellow was gone, and you would never have known I'd had a subconjunctival hemorrhage. Good Luck!!
