What is the history of Halloween?
-
How did Halloween begin? Where did it come from ( I believe that it was Scotland? But I'm not sure?) I'm just curious :D
-
Answer:
it's a combination of the Celtic Pagan holiday Samhain and the Catholic holiday All Saint's Day. the ancient Celts believed that Samhain was when the veil was the thinnest between this world and the spirit world, when it is easiest for the spirts, both good and bad, to come into our world. trick-or-treating goes back to the medieval times when the poor would put on costumes and go around begging for food in exchange for praying for the dead on All Saint's Day.
