What are some good questions to ask when going on an interview?

I have a job interview today. They always seem to ask, Do you have any questions for me?, toward the end of the interview. I always say no, then later think of some really good ones. ...show more

Answer:
NEVER ask in an interview "how you did" or rate you to other applicants. It is in very poor taste and shows a lack of confidence. Ask specific job related questions: -Why is this position open? -What are the high priority tasks you will be assigned immeadiately? -What is the company's culture like? -Pick something up from what they had mentioned during the interview and pose it back as a question for further detail.

What is the biggest challenge facing both this section and the company as a whole in the next 12 months? They probably can't answer this. If they throw it back at you, be prepared.

Next time you think of a good question, write it down. If you are very forgetful, keep a log of such questions, and take it with you to the interview. When you write your thank you letter after the interview, (you do do that, don't you ?) you can include any questions that have occurred to you, and say you look forward to discussing these matters at your next meeting, assuming they didn't throw you out at the last one. When at the interview, actively listen to the interviewer as they are outlining the job, and when they pause for breath, step in and say something like 'that is very interesting, could you give more details.' or something like that. You want to ask questions that show your value to the company, so focus on stuff you are good at, and then reflect back your understanding by feeding back stuff about your strengths, with examples.

i always ask something like "How do you think I did in the interview?" or "How do you think I compare to the other applicants?" - if nothing else it gives them a chance to give you some feedback and maybe a feel for what your chance are.
