  I am a transcriptionist and find that you really need to be able to understand a range of accents, be able to transcribe audio and video with multiple speakers and also be willing to research any terms you are not sure of on Google. It takes a lot of practice and experience, but is an enjoyable job. Express Scribe is available from NCH software and is very good. It not only allows you to work with a foot pedal (which you definitely will need) it also allows you to cleanup audio files with bad sound quality and plays a range of different formats.
