  • Answer:

you should not consider teaching unless it's your passion.. Nobody (and nobody's kid, for that matter) needs a teacher whose attitude is 'oh well, I guess I'll teach'. Grow up, figure out what you want to do, then pursue it until you succeed... teaching is not a safety net choice for work. It is for those whose desire is to teach.

I'm sorry that you had such difficulty in school. I've heard that nursing school is beyond challenging with all of the memorization and clinical skills that one must master. Regarding one's career path, they say 'if you love what you do, you'll never have to work a day in your life' -- to really go with one's passion. Farrah Gray, young male multimillionaire and author of 'Reallionaire' suggests asking oneself this question about a career, "What would I do for years and years to come and not have to get paid?" With teaching, most education majors, if not all, need do student teaching which actually involves hands-on teaching in a classroom unless perhaps special education (special needs class) but that may be a full class as well. Perhaps get a job as a teacher's assistant and get a sampling of what it may be like in the classroom albeit not nearly the same type of stress of needing to teach certain lessons each day while trying to maintain order within the classroom and dealing with potential behavioral challenges. For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'teachers', 'counselors' or such. Not sure that there are too many jobs for the school/guidance counselor as it seems that they tend to stay at their jobs for years :) Perhaps it varies by location. Nursing will always be a hard major. maybe try another school and try to learn from the mistakes you made before and study a little better. I am currently in nursing school and know how hard it is.
