    I hope you checked the school out carefully as most of the stand alone medical assistant schools do not provide you with adequate background to get a job after course completion. An administrative medical assistant probably starts out at $10-$12 p/hr If you have a family doctor you might ask him/her what he/she thinks of the program and may offer other suggestions.

"Bill" definitely has a very valid point about the cost/reputation of a school and what your income potential is. Personally, I think it's a very bad idea to spend upwards of $12,000 for a program where you don't even earn a college degree and you are going to be making around $10-13 an hour. There are plenty of healthcare programs out there you can earn an Associate Degree in, from a Community College, and start off making OVER $20 an hour, while having a tuition cost of less than $9,000.
