Do medical technologist REALLY help people??

Medical Technologists work exclusively in a lab at a hospital and have little to no patient contact. They work with blood and tissue samples and run the needed tests. If you want to work directly with patients, you may want to consider a career as an RN or LPN. A medical technologist requires an extensive amount of traning and a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, plus you have to sit for a national exam. In contrast, there is a profession called a medical technician, but this is a much lower paid position, and requires an Associate Degree as a Medical Technician and they work UNDER a Medical Technologist.

I envision a medical technologist as someone who does the tech jobs, draw blood, set you up for an x ray, etc. . If they can do it in a manner that makes you feel relaxed and less fearful,, they they ARE doing one big, important job and doing it well. Is oit for yopu? I really don't know, but it depends on how much education past high school you are willing to commit to? Med technician jobs don't require a lot of training, and they aren't paid the best. Consider nursing?
