Do medical assistants make good money?

Does Medical Assistants make more money than LPN?

  • Answer:

MA's usually do not make more than LPNs, but they are two different jobs. I am one of probably a few CMAs that actually make more than an LPN does. MA's get trained in other things besides the clinical end of it. I learned things like coding, billing, insurance and other paper-pushing things so if I wanted to, I could find a job in an office doing administrative crap. I'm not limited to "MA" work. Once through with school and internship, they can get jobs in the medical field. It doesn't have to be medical assisting. I work for a lab that does drug testing. A classmate of mine works in woundcare. Another runs the office end of a sports medicine practice (she makes over $20.00 an hour), and another yet found work as a phlebotomist. So it depends, there are exceptions but no, LPNs usually make more.
