Physician assistant, can I do a certain part in the hospital?

  • I want to be a physician assistant, but let me make sure I have this right.... I get my bachelor degree in nursing (RN) then I can (apply?) To be a PA, but can I still work in the ...show more

  • Answer:

You could get a RN, but most PAs come out of the pre-med curricula route and another medical oriented specialty. Most RNs become nurse practitioners. For the most part you do not float around to all the different specialties. YOu would work in labor & delivery if you were a midwife (not a NP); to work in the NICU you could become a neonatal nurse practitioner, to work in patient in oncology would be a PA probably, but not as common . First however decide what route-NP or PA (both will reguire grad school) , get the appropriate bachelors degree and go from there.
