I agree that CA, FL, NY and TX are good destinations for coders and billers today. Back in the early 90s, my mother used to be employed as a senior medical coder in two cities: Chicago, Illinois and Phoenix, Arizona. This was following a successful internship in Sacramento, California and training at a public university there (This moving around part is par for the course, I guess). During my own tenure between 2004-2007 and then 2009-2013, I have worked in places as diverse as Dallas, Texas; Miami, Florida; Cleveland, Ohio and Boston, Massachusetts. My destination for 2014-2020 is New York and New Jersey. Both are great places for health information technology graduates and a new breed of medical billers/coders.
