Most nursing programs require you to be CNA certified and work experience is prefered. It definitely helps prepare you to work with patients. I have worked part time as a CNA and went to school full-time it is definitely possible and I would highly recommend it. One note though, assisted living is much easier than a skilled nursing home position.
