Volunteering at a hospital is a great addition to your application. If you already have medically related extracurriculars on your application I would recommend a job in a non-medically related field. Such as catering/host/waiter....this shows medical schools that you are a well-rounded applicant and have other interests besides medicine. Trust me, they LOVE that on an application. Just make sure you also have volunteering, hospital experience (can be volunteer), and physician shadowing on your application as well.
