Whats it like being a pediatric or neonatal nurse?

I would like to become a registered nurse, what does it take? Whats it like? Annual salary?

    I am a RN and I went to a university for 4 years to receive my BSN, bachelors degree in nursing. The schooling is tough and takes a lot of studying and commitment but if it's what you want you'll enjoy it. During school you will take classes called clinicals that will allow you to travel to local hospitals with an instructor and a group of classmates for hands on training. If you are of age to work I would suggest trying to get a job in a health care environment now such as a transporter or in diatary delivering food to patients. This way you can get a feel for the environment before you make a choice. I have been an RN for 3 years and I made $75 K last year working full time in a hospital. Good luck :)

I know an RN that has over 15 years of experience and is now making $78,000 a year here in Canada. The avg. paediatric RN makes $61,217 in the US, not sure about Canada. I think that it is very realistic for the work that they do. Also these numbers may rise depending on where you live. Currently as a self employed person I make $120,000 a year and my wife makes $80,000 a year but this is all relative as where I live the average home sells for over $500,000 (mine is appraised at over $900,000) so living expenses are much higher than average. Do the job because you love the job, not because you love the salary...
