Is passing the PTCB exam enough to be a pharmacy technician in California?

Can you take the PTCB pharmacy technician exam without taking classes?

I mean I would rather get a study guide of some kind and just get certified now if possible lol. I don,t know if you can do this tho. Can anyone tell me? I live in IL if that makes ...show more

First, double check that you don't need formal education to be a pharmacy tech in your state. Here is the link for the IL State Board of Pharmacy: http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/who/phar.asp I have heard of it being done, but the test was hard. I was easily able to get a job without it, then took the test after I had a few months experience. Anyone with pharmacy experience should be able to pass it with no problem.

Classes cover content that will be in the exam whereas study guides include a lot of material that wouldn't feature in the exam. Your class tutor should give you an idea of what will actually be in the exam as it is his/her job to prepare you for the exam
