What are the differences between a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and a Registered Nurse (RN)?

Samian, darling! I believe that RNs have higher educational requirements, have different licensing requirements, clinical experience, and credentials, and take a different exam than LPNs because they have an expanded scope of practice and are sometimes able to prescribe medication and work independently, while LPNs typically work under the supervision of doctors or nurse practitioners. I'm not sure what the difference in salary is, but my aunt, who is an RN does pretty well, financially.
