Two kinds of people tend to get the telecommuting jobs...either seasoned technicians who have already been with a company for so long that the company will agree to let them telecommute or highly educated, lucky ones. Other things would come into play, as well. You might consider exploring the craigslist nearest to you to determine what kind of IT jobs are available. Some cities/places have lots of IT jobs, while others have almost none. I also do not know of any companies who will hire you unless you're at least 16 years old (the legal working age in the USA)...I don't mean to discourage you by telling you that... If I were you, I would use this time to do research and to learn as much as you can. If your grades are good in school, maybe you could get accepted at the community college for night classes so that by the time you graduate high school, you will have some of the certifications which are in high demand now (you get certified you also make more money!). Oh - and you'll want to research what TYPE of IT work you'd like to do - there's quite a few.

I've never really heard of people undertaking work experience online only, rather than going somewhere in person. In terms of work experience in IT in general, it's not easy to find this kind of work experience, because obviously a lot of people want to do it. If you're at college, the best place to start is with the careers advisor there, as often local companies will advertise placements with them. Another good way is simply to approach companies that you'd be interested in working for directly to see if they'd take you on. However, I think you're probably a bit young to be worried about this! Go get some work experience in a couple of years.
