How much do census jobs pay?

Why is it that there is so much unemployment yet few show up for jobs?

    it's not a perment job. in a few weeks, you'll be back to not having one. In the meantime, it's taking up a lot of time you could be using to find 'real' jobs. they don't accept everyone who applies, maybe your area rejected a whole bunch of people. Also, if a person is on unemployment, I think they loose it if they take that job, (even though it temporary,) and I don't know if they can get it back. It's also very hard. (I have friends who have done it.) In more rural areas, you could be driving as far a 60-100 miles a day to find all the people. And in my area, there are sections without roads and other parts you have to take ferries to, so it takes up a lot of time, (and you need a special car to go in the 4wheel drive area.) My friend was not reimbused for gas. Or when she got stuck in the sand. and time time spent on ferries or waiting for them doesn't count.
