What are normal,and abnormal things to expect with a tongue ring?

    Give me a break! "a hole directly to your heart"?? Wow... Yes, tongue piercings can be dangerous if improperly done, mostly due to the risk of piercing through a vein... Anyway, like some other people said, it is normal for it to be a little swollen and tender, for a few weeks. Make sure you rinse with mouthwash after you eat anything until it's completely healed. Also, you said it's a little white... I assume it is just around the edges of the piercing, which is also normal. I sucked on ice cubes for like the first month I had mine to keep the swelling down haha.

No laughing matter you could talk like that for a long time, maybe forever. Swellings take at least ten days to go down, solid food will get trapped - go back to liquids & mush for a few more days.

The symptoms you describe are completely normal. Mine was really sore for about a month but only because i tore my tongue while eating spag bol after one week of having it done! That was seven years ago and everything is fine now so persevere!!

It sounds like it's coming along fine. Just make sure you keep it clean, other than that, your body will heal it at it's own pace. I barely had any sweeling, and ate nachos the same day, but everyone is different. Also, try to avoid playing with it when it's healing, you can stretch and possibley infect the hole, plus, it's really bad for the enamel on your teeth! Good luck, all is well! :)

I read that getting your tongue pierced is dangerous. It makes a hole in the tongue that is a direct line to your heart. Bacteria travels directly to it. People as young as 21 have died from it. Be careful. Call a doc.
