What tips can you give to get into a normal sleep routine?

Can anyone give me any tips on how to get to sleep?

    Everyone is different so any of the answers you receive may well help you here, just try them as what works for one may not work for the other. Some people try reading, some try warm milk, other meditate to calm their mind down as having thoughts racing through your head whilst your trying to sleep really doesn't help, certainly annoys the heck outta me anyway! Other people try watching tv or counting sheep. You can and most probably will get quite a few idea's from everyone on here so why not try them all? I mean what's the worst that can happen, your already not sleeping so there's nothing to lose!! Oh and on a personal side note i find that watching a bit of tv whilst lieing down helps me to sleep these days, that and a bit of meditation, not at the same time mind but i like to get myself calm before getting into bed and watchin a bit of telly. You must really be missing your sleep. Lets see how long you can wait for her.... lol.

Yes a good tip i was given when i couldn't sleep is eat some lettuce before bed in a sandwich, or something it really does work it makes you really drowsy and helps you nod off,and try to avoid caffeine drinks such as cola tea and coffee as they are stimulants and keep you awake,switch to the decaf kind.good luck.

i know how you feel, the only thing that has worked for me is strong sleeping pills, but doctors hate giving them out cos they get addictive, so i only hardly ever get them :P i've tried ones you can buy over the counter and they made my heart race and made me really ill :( sometimes when i cant sleep i get up and cook pies and stuff :P doing something active helps wear me out, so does eating lol :P

Yep, turn off your PC earlier. I have the same problem when I'm on my PC until late, my mind is too awake for me to sleep so I can't then I look at the clock (like now) and I'm like "WHAT!? When did it get to this time? I'm not even tired"
