How can I make myself get sleep w/out medicine?

Sometimes I have trouble sleeping so I like to know a way to get some sleep w/out taking some kind of medicine.

Several options: 1)Don't eat close to your bedtime. 2)As you prepare for sleep, consume teas that are known to relax the body (like chamomile tea with a bit of honey) 3)create an environment that helps you sleep. do you have a clean bed with a comfortable pillow? Is is quiet where you sleep? If not, try to improve the conditions around you. 4)Don't exercise late in the evening, and don't consume coffee or alcohol close to your bedtime. (Drinking alcohol will not give you restful sleep). 5)Take time out before you go to bed and do something relaxing....read a good book, meditate, listen to calming music for 20 minutes or so. 6)take a warm shower just before bed.

Meditation - lay down, tense up every muscle, then relax every muscle, clear your mind, if you start to thing of something just push it out. You will be asleep in minutes.

drink milk and avoid caffeinated drinks. or eat alot of spicy food... seriously - indian spicy food.

I have this same problem and at first i tried listing to soft music and it worked for a while. If that doesn't work for you, you may want to to try taking some try of natural sleeping medicine. I find that they work very well and they don't have they same effects of the other sleeping med and they are way cheaper. You can find them at any natural food store or or local CVS. best of luck
