Why does cough syrup make you sleepy and not drunk?

Does any amount of cough syrup make you hallucinate?

    You shouldn't have a problem using cough syrup so long as you take the recommended dosage for your age/weigh that is shown on the bottle.

DO NOT USE ROBOTUSSIN!! Ask for a cough syrup that does not contain DXM. that is the hallucinogenic ingredient & yes it would make you hallucinate if you are sensitive to it. People abuse ROBOTUSSIN big time because of the DXM!!!! Normal people it takes half a bottle but still I would be careful if as you say you are prone to it. I am sensitive to speed, so I can't take recommended dosage of sudafed so yes in some people recommended dosages will still have the full drug effect like if you took alot of it.

OH SNAP! I actually hated that too - I found out that A LOT of people are allergic to (I'm not going to spell it right) "dextramorthapin" - so just try getting the stuff without that in it and you should be ok. Not easy, but look at the label's active ingredients.

no. take the recommended dosage and you'll be perfectly ok. you probably need about 5 times the average dose to start hallucinating. and if you are still cautious, get a cough syrup without DXM in it (dextromethorphan). thats the ingredient that creates the hallucinogens. so if you look on the cough syrup packet, and look at the ingredients and there isnt DXM in it, no hallucinations no matter how much you take
