Temp jobs, are they decent, and what kind of jobs are available?

They have office jobs. Light industrial, construction labor you name it they offer it. They tend to be dead end jobs that don't pay well. The pros are: - If you don't like it you can ask to be reassigned - you can work only when you want to - it is honest work -could lead to a permanent job The cons are: - you don't always have a steady income -little or no benefits -low pay (period) -work can end without any notice -some clients treat you like feces -they never stop reminding you that you canbe replaced -no opportunity for advancemen -little chance of overtime, most often under 40 hour work weeks -no retirement plan

There are many temp agencies today and they offer jobs in almost every industry. You need to check them out and find which one can serve you best. The good thing about these jobs, quite often is that you get a variety of work. In other words, you may work in a different position, office, or business every day. In many cases, if you perform at a particularly high level, that company might offer you a permanent job. The down side is that you are a"temp" and often not treated as well as you'd like. Also, you are not paid what the others around you are getting. The agency does after all, have to make their cut. But if you can live with this way of working, it might not be a bad deal. In the biotech industry we will hire temps. We like to do this because it gives us a chance to see if we like a person. It is way easy to get rid of a temp that isn't working out than to get rid of a ft employee. If you are a good worker and the opportunity exists for a perm position it can be good.

One good thing about temp jobs, besides the fact they may turn perm., is that you get to become aqcuatances with many different people.
