How do I figure out what I want to do when I grow up?

Great question that is asked a lot. The things that a person needs to figure out first is what kind of lifestyle you want. Lifestyle is defined as varying degrees of time, money and security. These are the things that we are looking for when we take a job or a career. Ask yourself how much money do you truly want to make a year. Be specific. The mind does not recognize the abstract. Saying to yourself, "A lot of money!" will not help you. If it's $60K then it's $60k a year. Now, how much time are you willing to give in an effort for the amount of money you want to make. And lastly, how much security is good enough for you? The only problem with security is that in the job market, there really isn't any. Once you have identified these three things, it will help you narrow down a career field. Start asking people around you that have lifestyle that you would like. See what they do and find out how they got there. We all like to share our stories with someone who is truly interested. (Hence the success of this website.) I hope that helps. The thing that most people need to come to the realization of, is that work is work. Most people do not like work because they feel that they always have something better to do with they're time. The trick is finding a job/occupation that you don't hate. If you are obsessed with finding something that you will like, then try to find something in a field that interests you. Example... If you like clothes, try to get into the fashion industry(designer, retail sales, etc.) If you like electronics, go to work for some kind of gadget shop or an electronics lab(like Intel). Everyone has something that interests them... find yours. Just remember, most people don't like their jobs. That's why the stressful ones pay so much, and the fun ones pay so little.

Do something you're good at. It's hard to fail at something you love.
