How long does a blister take to heal?

How long does it take for a blister to heal?

  • i have a penny-size blister on my thumb from kayaking for 3 hours and i'm wonder how long i will be in pain before it heals? i've got a bandaid on it

  • Answer:

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BREAK THE BLISTER. That is the protective barrier that your body produces to prevent infection to get into the wound and to allow the new skin to develop underneath. But now that the blister has popped on its own, keep it clean with saline solution and polysporin (neosporin). Keep it covered with a bandaid. It should heal within 3 - 7 days.

Just prick the blister and let the fluid drain if any, leave the old skin where it is so that air can get onto the skin underneath and let the new skin toughen up the old skin will be replaced by the new, so keep dry and covered for a week at least and the pain won't last that long as it is healing and protecting the new. bye
