Indonesia: Why a lot of Indonesians love TV shows that full of 'goyang'?

  • If you watch Indonesian TV, you'll notice some major stations have this big shows that brings 'goyang' like, y'know, Goyang Caesar, Goyang Oplosan, and stuff, and also they got very high rating. Why a lot of Indonesian likes it? (I'm asking this because it's a social phenomenon)

    because Indonesians always like something fun. if just 1 person who does goyang that's not cool, you know it will better WE DO THAT TOGETHER than alone. I mean its more fun if we do that together. and that crazy joged it is looked so funny, thats why !!

Escapism. You have to understand how hard the daily life of working class, blue collar worker, informal sector worker, and peasants of Indonesian. Such " Goyang" entertainment mirroring their/ our own neighbor appearance, their closest neighborhood nuance, with the jokes style ( mostly by physical comments), and almost all small talk, but appear as glamorous show, broadcasted nationally.Everybody need entertainment to stimulate positive expectation, and to escape the bitter real life.
