Would you use a mercury thermometer?

We don't have one but I would use one if we did. We always used them when I was young and I never planned on eating it !

Yes, I still use a mercury thermometer. What I can't figure out is how we lived so long with all the dangerous stuff we grew up with without the benefit of our children being around to tell us it was going to kill us.

I keep an old mercury thermometer for a backup. Every time I need to take someone's temp, a digital is dead...I replace the battery but it's always dead again when I want to use it next time. I've tried 3 different digital thermometes with the same luck. At least the old mercury one can't get a dead battery. LOL

I have a mercury, a digital, and the "swipe" kind, and I think if I thoroughly check my junk drawer, I have the tape kind. But I still like the glass/mercury one the best. Is way more accurate.

No, but I wish I still had one. I'm tired of replacing the batteries on some of the newer ones, including the digital.

I have three of them, and wouldn't use anything else. Remember when I was in chemistry in high school, we used to dump a little of it on the table, and move it around, no side effects that I know of, and I have lived to be 65 without any health problems!

Yes, and now half our light bulbs have mercury in them too!! Did you see that poor woman who broke a light bulb in her daughters bedroom, had to HASMAT come clean out her house! It was ridiculous! Funny we would play with that stuff as kids!
