Rope Climbing Thickness?
-
I've read that 1.5 inch diameter rope is the recommended thickness of climbing ropes. Would climbing a thinner rope be harder or easier?

Answer:
i assume you mean a hope to tie to the ceiling somewhere and climb up. i would find gripping a thinner rope to be more stressful on the joints of my fingers.. i'm sure there's probably a technique though. get a 10.5mm rope and a couple of ascenders >< (i prefer rockclimbing)

if you are talking about gym climbing ropes, then 1.5 inches is the recommended size because it is more accessible to younger and older people alike. If you are talking about rock climbing ropes, then anywhere from 9 mm to 11 mm ropes will work. Anything larger than that and you'll have a hard time fitting it through a belay device.
