Best Camping/Hiking in Maryland?

Maryland does not have a National Forest. If you want a less-restrictive atmosphere, a National Forest campground is probably your best alternative. National Forest campgrounds provide uncrowded opportunities often, especially in the off-season if the campgrounds remain open. Generally, you provide your own drinking water and use pit toilets. Dispersed camping is also available in National Forests. If you wish to remain in Maryland, then check with the state parks. However, you will need to behave in a civilized manner wherever you camp and be courteous to those camping around you. Leave-No-Trace.
