What is the cheapest camping trailer?

What size trailer can my 6cyl truck pull? I'm wanting to pull a 17ft camping trailer, too big or just right?

  • Don't know how big of a trailer I can pull with my Ford Ranger. Wanting to buy a travel trailer. Would like to have a 17ft, is that possible?

  • Answer:

Definitely a lot of choices out there for you. On the drivers side door of your truck will be a label giving you the max weight your truck can tow and or haul. Use that as a buyers guide to the capacity of trailer your looking for. Any tent trailer will fit in the category and most 18ft or smaller trailers will too. A sign that a trailer may be too heavy is if it has a double axle. As stated all ready Craigslist is a great resource to find used rigs and you should be able to find a used trailer from the 1990's or better in your price range.

Other answers

Absolutely. All non-pop-up camping trailers are a bit of a pain to haul, they tend to wander a little and blow around a little, but that's something that more power won't fix. Weight wise, you should be fine.
