Whats a really good tent i can buy?

  • i need somthing strong but somthing easy to put up, putting tents up by urself in the dark is not cool and it needs to last a long time and put up with alot of stuff help?

  • Answer:

A whole lot of the answer depends upon 'how you are planning on using the tent' and the number of people that will be using it. Car camping or backpacking? Family Camping or single or couple occupancy? Summer, three season, or four season? Automobile or bicycle transportation?

Coleman's are good but heavy. if you aren't too concerned about price go to your local outdoors store and check out backpacking one and two man tents they are lightweight (almost always under 4-5 lbs) and because they are meant to be set up by one person pretty easy. I personally use a MSR Hubba Hubba. It's less than 5 min for set up and that is with a separate rain fly that you can use by itself as a tarp tent for even less weight.

Coleman tents are one of most popular choices for campers, the Coleman Montana Big Sky Dome Tent will easily fit the entire family in one tent. This tent has plenty of space, for a large family, they'll be very comfortable in this spacious, tent. This is the best choice for the family who needs a roomier family tent. The center section of the tent has a height of 6 feet. I have a couple links for you there are a few other good choices, I don't know what size of tent you need? I have a link here of tent tips, I hope will also help you out. http://www.camping-triphub.com/?p=1792

I have two ultra lightweight tents from Decathlon. One is a 1 man (you and a ruck sac but no room to move as it slopes down towards the feet end. The second is a two man - a similar weight, very strong and has loads of room for one person and a big ruck sac and you have room to get changed in too. I have put both up in dusk/dark conditions - both were easily done and in about 10 minutes (much to the amazement of the guy in the next tent who wanted to know where I'd got them from the next morning). Very reasonably priced too. Both tents are strong and I have had no problems with leaks or wind - and I camp in North wales - so they have seen quite a bit of inclement weather. http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/backpacking-tents-690650/ Here's their selection of current lightweights - from T1 (single person) to T4 (4 man).

What are you looking for in a tent - they come in many sizes from a marquee to a bivvi bag. Generally the larger the tent the longer it will take to put up, a small tent (bivvi tent) might have one pole and can be ready to sleep in in about 5 minutes - but in the bad weather you have no space in there. There is a compromise between putting the tent up quickly and comfort (the more comfort and space the longer it takes). Then there is the second thing to look at and thats how much you have to spend on the tent. The more expensive tents will be easier to put up and will last well. Having said that, most single man tents are easy to put up and take down again - just need a couple of tries in the light and away you go.

Tatonka have a really good range of tents, as do Highlander - I currently have a two man "pop-up" tent from highlander, and its excellent, not faffing around in the dark for sure!

Greenleaf Outdoors

check REI if you are backpacking or any sporting goods if it is car camping it is more about size and how many people it sleeps.
