Which Sleeping Bag Size is the best?

Would you recommend a 5 feet tall adult using kid size sleeping bag?

  • i am looking into purchasing a sleeping bag, i am only 5 feet tall and i know open spaces in the sleeping bag is no good, would you recommend a kids sleeping bag for an adult?

  • Answer:

I am biased: buy a good sleeping bag. Spend $200-$300 for a good, lightweight, compact down sleeping bag. If you are well-insulated, then you will be fine if you have room enough to move around during the night. If possible, go to a dedicated outdoor gear shop for fitting and assessment of the minimum temperatures at which you will camp. I favor either a 15 degree or 0 degree bag for most camping. At the end of a twenty-mile hike, I have little extra internal energy to heat a sleeping bag. You should also purchase a sleeping pad that will add about R-5 insulation between your body and the ground, unless you are car-camping with a big foam bed or air mattress. If you sleep cold, then you can use the extra room in your sleeping bag for hot water bottles to add warmth to the bag.

You may be able to curl up it it enough to stay warm but I've been using adult sized sleeping bags since I was a kid. They kept me warm in as low as 15 degree F weather. Coleman is a really good brand
