Whats the best way to clean chef coats?

    The trick with the OxyClean or other oxygenated detergents is that it takes about 20 minutes for the cleaner to become active, so just tossing it in the regular wash cycle is usually a loss. I suggest using a spot cleaner (like Shout or Spray N Wash) on the stains of your coat as soon as you get home (most are safely let on stains for several days, but check labels). Spray the front and back of the stain. When you are ready to launder, fill up washer with just enough hot water to cover your coats. Add in the OxyClean, using 3-4 scoops, and let it activate in the water for about 20 minutes. You can add in 1/2 Borax as well. Add all your coats, stir them about a little, and then let soak for a minimum two hours, longer is better (I let my whites sit overnight or while I'm at work). Drain out the water, then run a regular wash cycle.

It just depends on what kind of stains are on it. For grease based spots, pretreat with a citrus degreaser product before washing in hot water with Vanish or Oxyclean. It is probably the oil/butter/egg/milk stains that are not coming out. Do not use chlorine bleach because the fabric will wear out faster and oil based stains will become set.

Presoak in that solution of oxyclean, bleach and water for up to 12 hours before you wash it.
